K&D: Good Read, Good Grief
It's time--yet again--for the weekly installment of KIsses and Disses!
This week’s KISS goes to an author by the name of James McBride. I recently finished his book, The Color of Water and it’s just fantastic. I mean, it’s so well written, yet simply stated. It’s autobiographical in nature and based on his mother’s life and his experiences being raised as a black man in Harlem by a Jewish mother. It’s a story about life, strength, and perserverence…and it’s truly moving. If you’re looking for a good read, pick up this book because it will enlighten you in more ways than one.
This week’s DISS goes out to none other than yours truly. I totally need to work on my form. As in photography form. I might have mentioned before that JD and I try to take the ugliest pictures possible of each other while we’re photographing a wedding. It’s dry humor, but I get a kick out of it every time I download his pictures. Until last week…when I saw what appeared to be a flaccid moose prostrate on the grass. Moose = Me. And it was so ugly! I laughed hysterically, then I nearly slapped myself for looking like an idiot in public.
It wasn’t until I received an email from David Bornais that I thought the picture should make its blog appearance. Because I have a dry sense of humor. David Bornais is a French photographer who is attending David Jay’s photography seminar in Paris later this summer and stumbled across my blog. He emailed asking about this photo from Alison and Matt’s wedding:
I couldn’t help but laugh to myself because as I was getting the above picture, I looked like this:
Wow, do I look pathetic or what?! If he knew how foolish I looked while taking that picture, I'm not so sure he would have trusted my advice! So, yup, this week’s DISS belongs all to me! ;)

It's for that I like your work and your style. Thank you very much for your help and in the future, I'll try to remember your position in this picture so that I can make the same thing :)

By the way, the pic came out awesome. May I ask what lens you used to get the shot? Way cool!

Jen Lee, I used a 24-70 for that shot...100iso, 2.8, in-camera parameter settings...hope this helps! :) Oh, and, try to keep your legs closed when capturing that shot! :D
