Janelle and Greg : Engagement

The pine trees lined the small dirt path, and the sounds of crunching twigs speckled the air as their sandals passed over them. Janelle would often times look back at the camera and proffer a coy smile—a Cheshire grin that betrayed knowledge of the lens, but still loved on Greg as if no one was watching. Janelle jumped on Greg’s back unannounced, had him twirl her at a moment’s notice, and cracked jokes to make them fall over laughing. Apparently, she knew what type of pictures she wanted.

Right now she’s playing music in her head and pretending she’s on one of your slideshows, Greg said as she nuzzled her face in his broad chest with embarrassment. I came to find out that Janelle watched quite a few engagement slideshows before her session, so she came prepared. Greg lovingly poked fun at Janelle and she threw her head back in hearty laughter.

The ironic thing, however, was that it was in the moments Janelle and Greg forgot about the camera—forgot about me, my imposition on their date, and the slideshow—that yielded their true personalities and passion for each other. They’re two of the most sweetest and genuine people I’ve been blessed to work with and I’m excited for their wedding this September.

Here are a few of my favorites…

As I stepped away to change a lens, I saw Janelle looking at Greg in a way that conveys her sincerest love for him...a smile, a longing, with a splash of amusement...
